Cookie Policy

1. Scope

This Cookie Policy applies to the Pub & Grub website and, where relevant, browser-based parts of future mobile applications and venue-owner tools. It should be read with our Privacy Policy, which explains how we collect, use, share and protect personal information under the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 ("POPIA").

2. What cookies and similar technologies are

Cookies are small text files placed on a browser or device. Similar technologies include local storage, session storage, pixels, software development kits and device identifiers. They can keep a service secure, remember a session or preference, measure performance or support relevant marketing. Some are set by Pub & Grub and others may be set by a service provider whose feature we use.

3. Essential cookies

Essential technologies are required to operate the service and cannot be switched off through our Cookie Settings control. They may be used to:

• Deliver pages and route traffic reliably.
• Protect the website, detect abuse and support security controls.
• Remember privacy and cookie choices.
• Keep forms, account tools and other requested functions working.
• Support authentication and maintain a secure signed-in session.

Blocking essential cookies in your browser may prevent sign-in or cause parts of Pub & Grub to stop working correctly.

4. Authentication and session cookies

When you sign in, our authentication or hosting provider may use cookies or equivalent session technologies to confirm your identity, protect the login process and keep you signed in between pages or visits where safely supported. These technologies do not give Pub & Grub your password. Signing out, clearing browser data or expiry of the session may remove or invalidate them.

5. Preference technologies

Preference technologies remember choices such as cookie consent and may later remember display, language, location-area or discovery preferences. Pub & Grub currently stores your Cookie Settings selection in browser storage and an essential cookie so the website can respect it on future visits. You can replace that selection at any time.

6. Analytics and performance

Analytics and performance technologies can help us understand which pages and features are useful, how people move through the service, whether pages load correctly and where errors occur. Information may include device type, browser, general location derived from IP address, pages used, interactions, timestamps and diagnostic information.

Pub & Grub does not currently activate optional analytics scripts through the website. If optional analytics are introduced, we will update our disclosures and use them only after the consent or other lawful basis required by POPIA.

7. Advertising and marketing technologies

Advertising or marketing technologies may in future help measure campaigns, limit repeated advertisements or show more relevant Pub & Grub promotions. Pub & Grub does not currently activate optional advertising cookies through the website. If these tools are introduced, they will remain off unless you choose the marketing category or another lawful basis clearly applies. We will identify material third parties and purposes in an updated policy or consent notice.

8. Third-party services

Hosting, authentication, security, maps, embedded media, analytics, social-media, booking or other external features may use their own technologies when those features are loaded or opened. Third-party websites reached through a link control their own cookies and privacy practices.

Where a third party processes information for Pub & Grub, we require appropriate safeguards. Where it acts independently, review its policy before using the feature. We do not control cookies placed after you leave Pub & Grub for an external venue, booking, map or social-media service.

9. Consent and POPIA

We use essential technologies because they are reasonably necessary to provide, secure and remember your requested service. We request a choice before activating optional analytics or marketing categories where consent is required. Consent must be voluntary, specific and informed, and you may withdraw it without affecting processing that was lawful before withdrawal.

10. Your Cookie Settings choices

When the cookie banner is shown, you can:

• Choose Essential only to decline optional analytics and marketing categories.
• Choose Manage choices to select optional categories separately.
• Choose Accept all to permit the optional categories shown.

After saving a choice, use the clearly labelled Cookie settings button on the website to withdraw or change it at any time. A change applies to future use; it cannot reverse information already processed lawfully.

11. Browser and device controls

You can also block or delete cookies through browser or device settings. Those controls may not remove other forms of browser storage automatically, and blocking all cookies may affect authentication, consent memory and essential functions. Consult your browser's help information for its specific controls.

12. Duration

Session technologies usually expire when the session ends or after a security-defined period. Persistent technologies remain for a set period or until replaced or deleted. Our cookie-choice record remains until you change it, clear the relevant browser data or it expires. We keep optional analytics or marketing identifiers no longer than reasonably necessary for their disclosed purpose.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when the service, legal requirements or technologies change. We will update the last-updated date and, where required, request a fresh choice before using a new optional purpose.
